Last year we reported that IT remake writer Gary Dauberman was writing the script for Paramount’s feature film adaption of the ’90s TV series “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” That news was followed by Paramount announcing a 201 release date for the movie. This week at CinemaCon Paramount unveiled an official logo letting fans know that the film is still coming.
“The show is about the shared experience of telling stories — especially scary ones. We’re going to celebrate that with this movie and honor the darker, scarier tone of the show, which was really groundbreaking for Nickelodeon at the time. I hope the Midnight Society approves,” Dauberman, who produces with Matt Kaplan, recently told THR.
The original series followed a group of teenagers who call themselves The Midnight Society. Each week one member of the club would tell a scary story to their friends.
Are You Afraid of the Dark will arrive on October 11, 2019.
