Director Paul Hyett (Howl) is back with a new terrifying tale, Heretiks, which is heading to FrightFest where it will make its world premiere. The trailer has just arrived. In it, we witness a young woman in a battle for her soul.
This frightening flick stars Michael Ironside (Total Recall), Clare Higgins (Hellraiser), and Hannah Arterton (“Safe”).
Set in Britain in the 17th Century, Heretiks centers on a young woman who, after being saved from execution, discovers she has a new evil within her.

Hyett co-wrote the script with Conal Palmer. This is the second time the duo has worked together. They also teamed up back in 2012 for the dark thriller The Seasoning House.

“In the early 17th century, innocent young Persephone is falsely accused and put on trial for her life. Her fate seems sealed except for the timely intervention of the mysterious Reverend Mother offering her not just sanctuary, but hope. For the Reverend Mother is the self-appointed leader of a small religious retreat, a secluded Priory, where her fellow Sisters devote their lives to the Lord and seek atonement for their pasts. But upon arrival, Persephone is plagued with terrifying visions and soon realizes that it’s not salvation that awaits but a battle for her very soul itself.

Marcia Do Vales of Spain’s EnMar Productions and Michael Riley of the UK’s Sterling Pictures produced. Lyndon Baldock executive produced for Templeheart Films.
