There’s a lot of action surrounding the film “The Predator” and the film is not in theatres yet! It’s been reported that a scene in the upcoming sci-fi horror was removed because one of the actors in the scene was a registered sex offender.

Actress Olivia Munn found out that in the scene she was sharing screen-time with Steven Wilder Striegel who served 6 months in jail and is now a registered sex offender after in 2010 he attempted to lure a 14-year-old into a sexual relationship that he met on the internet.

Director Shane Black is friends with Striegel and cast him in the bit role to help him out since he can’t find much work in Hollywood (I wonder why.), this was not the first film Black gave a handout to his friend, he gave him bit parts in “Iron Man 3” and “The Nice Guys”.
What upset Munn was that Black kept Striegel’s past from the rest of the cast and crew, 20th Century Fox shared Munn’s stupor saying through a spokesperson;

Our studio was not aware of Mr. Striegel’s background when he was hired. Several weeks ago, when the studio learned the details, his one scene in the film was removed within 24 hours. We were not aware of his background during the casting process due to legal limitations that impede studios from running background checks on actors.

Munn alerted the studio as soon as he learned about Striegel’s past:

I am relieved that when Fox finally did receive the information, the studio took appropriate action by deleting the scene featuring Wilder prior to release of the film.

The Predator” will be in theatres September 14th.
