Nearly three decades after the theatrical release of George Romero’s horror anthology Creepshow is getting a series adaptation from “Walking Dead” director Greg Nicotero. Nicotero will direct and executive produce several of the episodes of the Shudder series as well as oversee it.
Romero’s original, released in 1982, featured segments by master of horror Stephen King and starred names like Ted Danson and Adrienne Barbeau. The film was so well loved that it spawned two sequels and a comic.
Nicotero has a deep connection to Creepshow. He worked alongside Romero on Creepshow 2 and Day of the Dead.

Creepshow is a project very close to my heart! It is one of those titles that embrace the true spirit of horror…thrills and chills celebrated in one of its truest art forms, the comic book came to life! I’m honored to continue the tradition in the spirit in which it was created.” Nicotero stated.

Set to premiere on Shudder next year, each episode of the show will feature a different director. Special effects will be handled by Nicotero’s company KNB EFX Group.
