Back in 2007, we got our first look at Danny Trejo as Machete in a faux trailer in Robert Rodriguez‘s Planet Terror. Thankfully Rodriguez saw the potential and created the Machete franchise. In Machete Kills (2013) we got another faux trailer, this time teasing that Machete was headed to space for the appropriately titled sequel Machete Kills Again…In Space.
It’s been five years since we’ve heard anything leaving us wondering if we’d ever see the third film of the franchise. Recently, during an interview with Popcorn Talk, Trejo and Rodriguez promised fans that Machete will be heading to space.
I would say that… Robert has his own timetable for doing stuff. I know he’s working on a big movie right now. Robert’s working on it, it’s gonna be… unbelievably crazy.”
Trejo also stated that Michelle Rodriguez is committed to reprising her role as badass Luz.
It sounds like we might actually see Machete return to kick ass in the vastness of space. But if they are going to make it they better get the lead out, Trejo is 74. He’s not getting any younger.
