Final Destination fans have been begging for a new installment for years and they’re finally getting their wish, sort of. THR is reporting that Final Destination is getting a “re-imagining”.
New Line Cinema has hired horror writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan to pen the script. The duo is most recognized for writing four of the Saw films as well as Piranha 3DD. Dunstan is also working on the upcoming Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark film.
The first Final Destination debuted in 2000 and was hit, bringing in $122 million. That’s not bad for a film made on a $23 million dollar budget. With non-stop thrills and seriously epic kills, I’m not surprised it made fans happy.
There is still a question as to whether or not Tony Todd will be reprising his role, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed. Hopefully, we’ll know more soon. In the meantime, here’s the original’s trailer.
