We have terrible news. IFC has canceled one of their best series, the horror-comedy “Stan Against Evil“, after just three seasons. The series’ creator Dana Gould made the announcement during his recent podcast The Dana Gould Hour.
While the show’s cancelation has officially been confirmed, there is still hope according to Gould there is a chance that another network may pick up the series.
Stan Against Evil, I am sad to report, will not be returning for a fourth season,” Gould stated. “It had a great run of three seasons. It’s not coming back. Will it show up in some other form on some other network someday? Maybe. But right now, as we like to say, it’s dead as Kelsey’s nuts.” He continued, “I’m very proud of the show and its fantastic cast: John McGinley, Janet Varney, Nate Mooney, Deborah Baker Jr., our great directors, Eban Schletter our great music person, Autonomous F/X, all the people that worked on the show. I’m leaving a lot of people out. This isn’t the official format for my thank you, but I thought everybody did a great job. The show’s on Hulu, you can enjoy it. It ain’t comin’ back anytime soon, but that is -as they say- showbiz, and I’m already working on some other cool crap that will hopefully come your way.”
The series follows grumpy retired sheriff Stanley Miller (John C. McGinley) who teams up with the new sheriff (Janet Varney) in hopes of saving their town and themselves from evil. Deborah Baker Jr. plays Denise Miller, Stan’s absent-minded, do-good daughter. Nate Mooney who returns to his role as Deputy Leon Drinkwater, Evie’s right-hand man. David Koechner returns as Kenny, Evie’s self-absorbed, oblivious ex-husband. Mick Ignis (interview) plays many of the evil entities that cause chaos in “Stan Against Evil“.
We’ll miss you “Stan Against Evil!”
