Fans of  the series “Nightflyers” have been waiting for word about the second season, today we have an update, though it may not be the one you want to hear. Syfy has canceled the series after only one season.

Based on George R. R. Martin’s novella by the same name the series followed eight scientists on an expedition at the edge of our solar system with hopes of making contact with an alien lifeform. Along the way, they encounter terrifying and violent events that cause the crew to turn against one another.

One of the series’ downfalls may be the fact that it is the most expensive show Syfy has ever produced, adding a lot of pressure on it to succeed.  The premiere only brought in 623,000 viewers and the numbers continued to decline, so it’s no surprise it got the ax.
