“Game of Thrones” star Natalie Dormer is headed from Westeros to the Los Angeles. The actress has been cast as Magda, a lead role in Showtime’s “Penny Dreadful” spin-off “City of Angels.”

 

Magda is a supernatural, shapeshifting demon who can take the appearance of anyone. According to the official description, she is described charismatic, clever, and a chameleon, who is a dangerous enemy or an invaluable ally.

 

City of Angels” will feature all-new characters and stories and is a “spiritual descendant” of “Penny Dreadful” which was an absolutely incredible series. “City of Angels” is set amid the social and political turmoil on Los Angels in 1938. Steeped in Mexican-American folklore, the series stars Daniel Zovatto as Detective Tiago Vega whose investigation of a murder sends him on an epic journey. Tiago and his family are caught in the middle of powerful forces that threaten to rip them apart.

 

Dormer joins previously announced cast member Daniel Zovatto (It Follows). John Logan, “Penny Dreadful” creator, writer, and executive producer, will be retaining those titles for “Penny Dreadful: City of Angels“. Micahel Aguilar, Pippa Harris, and Sam Mends will also be executive producing.
