New “Dracula” Series Stakes Its Vampire

Steven Moffet and Mark Gatiss are teaming up once again for a new adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. You may be wondering who will be playing the lead role. That would be Girl in the Spider’s Web (review) actor Claes Bang. Set in Victorian-era London, the miniseries will also star Gatiss, Dolly Wells, Luiza Richter, and John Heffernan. This is not the first “Dracula” series we’ve seen. The first premiered back in 2013 but was short lived. With Moffet and Gatiss having a long track record of successful series, having worked together on both “Doctor Who” and “Sherlock”, odds are we’ll be in for a good show this time around. Set to begin filming this Spring, the series is a co-production of Netflix and the BBC with the show airing in the U.S. on Netflix and on the BBC in the U.K.

‘Zombie Deer Disease’ May Infect Humans, Scientists Fear

WARNING: SOME IMAGES MAY BE DISTURBING In 24 states, elk, deer, and moose have been seen to exhibit “zombie-like” behavior. Though people have dubbed this disease “Zombie Deer Disease” it’s actually called, Chronic Wasting Disease or CWD The illness attacks the animal’s neurological system causing them to basically starve to death. With the number of cases rising across the United States, scientists fear that inevitably the disease will “jump” to the human species; this is known as “Cross-Species Transmission”, where a disease that originates in an Animal is spread outside their species. The disease resembles Bovine spongiform encephalopathy “Mad Cow Disease” but once the meat of an infected cow was consumed by a human it becomes Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease or CJD. In all cases CWD, Mad Cow, and CJD are fatal due to Prions, “misfolded” protein cells that once present in the neurological system, causes rapid

Blu-ray Review: Happy Birthday to Me (1981)

Ginny Wainwright (Melissa Sue Anderson) has got it all; she’s a looker, popular as balls, and is a member of the “Top Ten”; an elite group of the most popular and privileged students (a.k.a. obnoxious douche nozzles…mostly anyway). Because this film is older than dirt (from 1981 to be precise, when the legal drinking age was 18…though from the looks of this cast 18 was far in the rear view mirror), these “high school kids” gather at a local bar every night for drinks. As fate, and slasher movie tropes would have it, one night their pal Bernadette (Lesleh Donaldson) fails to show…mainly because a black gloved murderer slashed her throat. As our gang goes about the normal pursuits one does when worried sick about a missing friend; namely jumping drawbridges, racing dirt bikes, having experimental procedures to fix your traumatized brain after a car accident (on that damn bridge again), and stealing underwear (I know that at least one
