Legendary has been kicking around the idea to reboot The Toxic Avenger for a long time, now it seems they are finally setting the wheels in motion, announcing today that the film’s writer-director will be Macon Blair, whose film I Don’t Feel At Home In This World is now streaming on Netflix.

Troma’s 1984 classic, from Michael Herz and Lloyd Kaufman, tells the story of Melvin Ferd, a nerd working as a janitor in a New Jersey gym. Constantly picked on and bullied, Melvin is one day chased out of a second-story window landing in a drum of toxic waste which turns him into a hero with super-strength and a face only a mother could love. The Toxic Avenger then sets out to fight crime.

Hopefully, more details will surface soon.  If by some way you haven’t seen this gem, go check it out, it’s currently streaming on both Amazon Prime and Tubi.
