The poster for Steven Spielberg’s Jaws has inspired artwork over and over again when it comes to shark movies and the first art for 47 Meters Down: Uncaged is no different. Spotted at this week’s CinemaCon (according to Bloody-Disgusting), there is no doubt the poster gives a nod to the classic but it does have its own twist. The poster, which was featured on elevator doors, also revealed that the film will open in theaters this August.
Brec Bassinger stars alongside John Corbett (“Sex in the City”), Nia Long (“Empire”), Sophie Nelisse (The Book Thief), Corinne Foxx, Davi Santos (Polaroid), Sistine Stallone, Brianne Tju (“Scream”, and Khylin Rhambo (“Teen Wolf”) in the sequel. Foxx and Stallone are none other than the daughters of Jamie Foxx and Sylvester Stallone and are making their film debuts.
Johannes Roberts (interview) is back in the director’s chair for this year’s sequel to the 2017 hit. During an interview for his film Strangers: Prey at Night, Roberts gave us a heads up that the film takes place in caves and that “it’ll be pretty scary.”
“The film will tell the story of four teens diving in a ruined underwater city, who quickly find themselves in a watery hell as their adventure turns to horror when they learn they are not alone in the submerged caves. As they swim deeper into the claustrophobic labyrinth of caves they enter the territory of the deadliest shark species in the ocean.”
