The Conjuring Universe continues to expand. Annabelle Comes Home soon opening in theaters, The Conjuring 3 is in production, The Crooked Man is likely on his way, and now word has come that The Nun 2 is already in the works.
Director Corin Hardy’s The Nun (review) brought in over $365 million worldwide at box offices so it’s really no surprise that a sequel is on the books. Conjuring Universe producer Peter Safran teased the sequel during a recent interview with EW.
“I think there is an inevitability to another Nun movie,” Safran just told EW. “We have a really fun storyline for that teed up, so I think that’s the next one that will be written.”
We first met the nun, a demon called Valek, in James Wan’s The Conjuring 2 where Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) went head to head with the entity while trying to save a family plagued by supernatural activity. In The Nun, a prequel to The Conjuring 2, follows Father Burke (Demián Bichir) and Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga) as they travel to a remote nunnery in Romania after a young nun commits suicide only to discover that the demon Valek is causing death and destruction.
