Mark Wahlberg (Instant Family) is teaming up with the genre heavy hitter Jason Blum (Us) for the adaptation of  New York Magazine’s article “The Stolen Kids of Sarah Lawrence“.

Written by Ezra Marcus and James D. Walsh, the story of young men and women at the Sarah Lawrence college as they were charmed by Larry Ray, the manipulative father of a classmate. The father moved into the dorm along with his daughter after he was released from prison. He cooked for the group of friends and beguiled them with tales of his time as a CIA operative.

After bringing them to a New York apartment for the summer, he turned the students against their parents and began to control their lives and abuse them mentally and physically.

Blumhouse acquired the rights soon after the story was published on April 28th. Wahlberg will produce alongside Steven Levison under their banner Closest to the Hole, along with Blumhouse.

There is no word yet if the story will be developed as a movie or if it will become a series.
