Remember The Banana Splits? They are no longer “family friendly”, in fact, they look downright demented in the first trailer for a new horror movie simply titled as The Banana Splits Movie. Today, we’ve got the release date! The movie will debut on Syfy on August 13th followed by its arrival on Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD, which are R-rated for “horror violence and gore”, on August 27th.

In the movie, “a boy named Harley and his family attend a taping of The Banana Splits TV show, which is supposed to be a fun-filled birthday for young Harley and business as usual for Rebecca, the producer of the series. But things take an unexpected turn – and the body count quickly rises. Can Harley, his mom, and their new pals safely escape?”

Dani Kind (Wynonna Earp), Finlay Wojtak-Hissong (The Kindness of Strangers), Romeo Carere, Steve Lund (Schitt’s Creek), and Sara Canning (“The Vampire Diaries”) star. Danishka Esterhazy (Level 16) is in the director’s chair.
