We’ve got a lot of “AHS: 1984” news for you today. News from late last month revealed that the anthology series has September premiere date, Wednesday, September 18th to be exact.

The second bit of news may leave many fans disappointed. According to multiple reports, longtime “AHS” actress Sarah Paulson will not be returning as a main character for the series ninth season. I know, I know, she’s held a big presence in every season until now. But what can we do? I’m sure the reason for her absence will come to light soon, it always does.

Paulson is not the only regular that will not be back this season. Evan Peters will also be MIA. But it has been confirmed that Emma Watson will star opposite Olympic medalist Gus Kenworthy.

Producer Tim Minear has teased that season nine will be paying homage to the horror films of the eighties.

I will tell you nothing, except that I think it’s awesome,” Minear told TheWrap. “I think it’s gonna be really scary but a lot of fun, like it always is.

He added, “If you have a taste for ’80s horror, you’re in for a treat. What I would say is that this has been an area that Ryan has talked about since I’ve known him and it’s just a real sweet spot for him. And I think it was time for him to do it.
