You ask any horror fan about the Evil Dead franchise and odds are they’ll rave about how awesome it is and that they wish we’d get another installment. Franchise co-creator Sam Raimi we are definitely getting another movie! While he’s not sure which direction it will go, at least we know we’ll get something. Raimi has also said that it will come sooner, rather than later.
While making his rounds to promote Crawl, Alexandre Aja’s gator movie, which Raimi produced, he did an interview and was asked about “Ash vs Evil Dead’s cancelation last year and if we’d get a movie sequel. This what he had to say:
I’d love to make another one. I don’t think TV is in its future but we’re talking about, Bruce [Campbell], Rob [Tapert], and myself, one or two ways to go for the next movie. We’d like to make another Evil Dead feature and in fact we’re working on some ideas now.”
Campbell starred in the three original films as the badass deadite slayer Ash Williams. When we asked Campbell during an interview what was next for him and Ash, he declared that Ash was officially retired. But that may not be completely true, Raimi says not to count Campbell out just yet. We can’t help but wonder if the future of Evil Dead lies with a new main character, possibly Ash’s daughter that we met in the series. Another possible option is a sequel to Fede Alvarez’s 2013 remake.
We won’t have to wait long to find out more. According to Raimi, we’ll know something within the next six months. We’ll keep you posted.
