Josh Boone (The New Mutants) and CBS All Access’ upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s classic The Stand will be a little different from the story you know, including the ending. But before you panic, you should know that King himself is writing the new ending for the series.

The cast includes James Marsden as Stu Redman, Amber Herd who will play Nadine Cross, Odessa Young will appear as Frannie Goldsmith, and Henry Zaga will play Nick Andros. Whoopi Goldberg (Ghost), and Greg Kinnear (“The Twilight Zone”) also star alongside Marilyn Manson (Sons of Anarchy) who will both star and provide some of the series’ soundtrack.

The story, previously adapted for a miniseries back in 1994, is set in a post-apocalyptic world where a weaponized virus causes a global pandemic and wipes out most of the world’s population except for some survivors who are immune. The survivors are on a cross country journey coming together and banding together for safety. Together they migrate to one of two sites, Boulder Colorado, where Mother Abigail leads or Las Vegas, ruled by Randall Flagg, a demonic entity who appears in several of King’s other novels.

Boone and Ben Cavell executive produce along with Roy Lee, Jimmy Miller, and Richard P. Rubenstein. Owen King will produce.
