The cast has been quickly building for CBS All Access’ reboot of Stephen King‘s “The Stand“. King himself appeared on “The View” today as part of the publicity for the miniseries where he revealed that co-host Whoopi Goldberg will play the role of Mother Abagail.

The announcement triggered Collider to do some digging with the goal of learning who will play one of the most important roles, that of Randall Flagg. It turns out that he will be played by “True Blood” and “Big Little Lies” actor Alexander Skarsgård!

Flagg made his first appearance in “The Stand” back in 1978 but has since popped up in several of King’s other stories including The Dark Tower and Hearts of Atlantis. Usually when he appears its to do bad things such as to cause chaos and destruction.

In The Stand, the demonic figure builds a dark society in the dystopian world after a plague has killed much of mankind. Flagg and his tribe go head to head with Mother Abagail’s sect of good guys.

The cast now also includes James Mardsen as Stu Redman and Amber Heard starring as Nadine Cross. Jovan Adepo appears as Larry Underwood, with Owen Teague as Harold Lauder, Brad William Henke as Tom Cullen, and Daniel Sunjata appearing as Cobb.
