Hereditary star Toni Collette has joined the cast of Guillermo del Toro‘s film adaptation of William Lindsay’s 1946 noir novel Nightmare Alley.
Collette will star alongside Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, and Rooney Mara in the film where she will play a mentalist named Zeena who serves as a mentor to the protagonist.
Set in a world of carnival hustlers and con men, the film tells the story of a mentalist (Cooper) who teams with a psychologist in order to swindle the rich. Things go south for the man when he’s out-hustled by a woman.
Del Toro is directing from the script he co-wrote with Kim Morgan. Filming set to begin on Nightmare Alley in Toronto in 2020.
