Ahead of the release of his film Gretel & Hansel, news has come via Deadline that Osgood Perkins (The Blackcoat’s Daughter, I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House) has already signed on for his next film, the possession horror Incident at Fort Bragg, from Lionsgate.
.
Perkins will both write and direct the film inspired by the true story of the “renowned writer and Irish Catholic priest Malachi Martin, who was brought in by the U.S. government to perform a sanctioned exorcism on a young soldier at the famed Army base.”
The latest version of the script is from 2019’s Pet Sematary writer Jeff Buhler edit from a previous draft by Evan Turner and Harrison Query, who sold the idea to Lionsgate.
Gretel & Hansel is set long ago in a distant fairytale countryside, where a young girl (Sophia Lillis, It) leads her little brother (Sammy Leakey) into a dark wood in desperate search of food and work, only to stumble upon a nexus of terrifying evil. The film opens in theaters nationwide on January 31, 2020.
