CI Games was kind enough to allow me the chance to go to the Siberian wilderness and pop some melons with their latest FPS Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts. I like sniper games so this was an exciting chance for me to experience one of the most complex ones I’ve played to date!

In Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts you play as a mercenary known simply as “The Seeker”, who has been hired to enter the Republic of Siberia to help bring down its newly formed government all the while testing out a new technologically advanced mask and suit. Depending on the tasks completed for each mission and assignation contracts being met, The Seeker will be paid handsomely.

Onto the game itself, first off, the physics of this game is very realistic. Unlike other sniper games, it’s not just simply line up your target in the crosshairs and pull the trigger, you have to take in account the wind direction, bullet drop, positioning, and distance and this is on the game’s easiest difficulty! It probably took me about an hour or two of practice on the training level (that you can go back to at any time!) to get the feel of the aiming system.

The mask plays a big part in the game’s mechanics as it aids in aiming and helps you to survey your environment by showing you where climbable edges are as well as marking enemies. You can sneak up on enemies and you can either kill or interrogate (and then kill) them, the interrogations will help mark enemies on your map and possible help find your objectives.

The graphics overall are pretty decent and the lighting is good as well but I wish maybe some more detail in the arms of the Seeker would be nice. Sound is alright even though there are times where it makes a “brrrrrrrr!” sound as if the sound file is having difficulty. The voice acting of the Seeker is meh but I enjoy the voice acting of “The Handler” who gives you missions and contacts you through the mask.

The contract and awards system is addicting, to be honest. The money you make on contracts are spent towards upgrading your weapons as well as buying new ones, gear, upgrades for your mask and suit, as well as cosmetic paint skins for your guns.

Overall Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts is in a league of its own in a good way. The game is fun to play and with the challenging aiming system it’s perfect for any FPS gamers who want a challenge. Anyone that likes a stealth game should give this one a try as well as remaining undetected is key to survival. Replayability may be high for some but it may not be everyone’s cup of tea but overall I enjoyed it. On my scale of five stars, it’s a 4.5.

Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts is out now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
