One of the biggest and best series of 2019 is Amazon’s dark ultra-violent twist of the superhero genre, “The Boys” which premiered on the streaming network this past summer.
The second season is headed our way next year and Amazon is giving us a taste of what’s to come with a brand new teaser that promises more action and a lot more bloodshed.
The first season which is currently streaming on Amazon and is based on the best-selling comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson pulls back the curtain, revealing the ugly side of the superhero genre and follows a group of vigilantes known as “The Boys” who are on a mission to take down corrupt heroes who are in truth killers, and well, complete assholes when the cameras and public aren’t looking.
Karl Urban stars as Billy Butcher leader of “The Boys” and is joined by Jack Quaid as Hughie, Laz Alonso aka Mother’s Milk, Tomer Capon who plays Frenchie, and Karen Fukuhara plays the badass character of The Female. Simon Pegg guest stars as Hughie’s dad.
The superheroes, known as “The Seven”, are played by Anthony Starr (Homelander) leader of the bunch, Erin Moriarty (Starlight), Dominque McElligott (Queen Maeve), Jessie T. Usher (A-Train), Chace Crawford (The Deep), and Nathan Mitchell (Black Noir).
“The Boys” is from Seth Rogan, Evan Goldberg, and Eric Kripke. We should know the premiere date for season two soon. In the meantime, check out the teaser.
