Syfy announced today at the Television Critics Association winter press tour that it has given the straight-to-series order for a new series based on Chucky from the Child’s Play franchise.

Titled “Chucky,” the series centers on an idyllic American town thrown into chaos after a vintage Chucky doll turns up in a back yard. A series of horrific murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies and allies from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who became a notorious monster.

The series hails from franchise creator Don Mancini who will also serve as a director, showrunner, and executive producer. David Kirschner, Nick Antocasta, Harley Peyton will executive produce as well.

We first met our favorite possessed doll Chucky back in 1988 and have since seen six sequels and a reboot from a new team, which debuted in theaters in 2019.
