In a world where we can’t agree on anything, there is something we can indeed agree on… B-Movies are awesome! For being out there in storytelling, bad special effects, campy acting, and let’s face it just fun to watch, B-Movies or films like them are always pleasant to watch anytime. What’s better than a B-Movie? The fact that many of these films are in the public domain and can be watched for free on sites like YouTube! Here are 4 films you can watch right now!
Invasion of the Saucer Men (1957)
This film takes place in a small town that is suddenly invaded by aliens and is told through three different storylines, a teenage couple (Steven Terrell and Gloria Castillo) who accidentally hit an alien with their car, two drifters (Frank Gorshin and Lyn Osborn) visiting town trying to make money, and Air Force officials (Douglas Henderson and Sam Buffington) trying to cover up the landing of the flying saucer.
The Last Man on Earth (1964)
Based on Richard Matheson’s 1954 novel I am Legend, this film follows Dr. Robert Morgan (Vincent Price) as he continues to survive and tries to find a cure for a viral outbreak that turned the rest of the world into zombie-like vampires.
Plan 9 from Outer Space (1959)
Dubbed one of the “worse films ever made”, Ed Wood’s sci-fi horror follows a group of aliens who plan on raising the earth’s dead in order to stop the earth from making a doomsday weapon that can destroy the universe. The film features Vampira in one of her most iconic film roles and Bella Lugosi’s last, footage from an unfinished film he was working on with Ed Wood was used in this film, whenever Lugosi’s character appears in the film with his face covered, that’s because it’s Tom Mason who is acting as his stand-in.
The Alligator People (1959)
This film is told through a flashback of Joyce (Beverly Garland) who went down to the bayous of Louisiana in search of her missing husband (Richard Crane) who is slowly turning into an Alligator. Joyce must face her husband’s condition, a scientist experimenting on people and Alligators, and a wild one-handed hermit (Lon Chaney Jr.).
That’s all for now, but don’t worry this is just the beginning of my quest to find some fun films for you the reader to enjoy!
