One of the biggest subjects on social media right now is the insane Netflix’s docuseries “Tiger King” which is currently number one on the streaming giant. The series follows the wild story of big cat and zoo owner Joe Exotic and his journey that ends when he’s arrested and sent in prison where he is doing time on animal cruelty charges and a murder for hire plot, his target, Carole Baskin.

In the docuseries, we see Joe express his hatred over and over again for Baskin and his opinion that Baskin murdered her husband and fed him to the tigers.

The show has already spawned thousands of memes and now music videos. That includes Alex Winston‘s newly released song about the “Tiger Queen”. Which capitalizes on the stories and rumors surrounding Baskin and her husband Don’s mysterious disappearance.

The indie-pop artist’s song is an intoxicating, eerie, and surprisingly soothing cover of infamous Joe Exotic’s song “Here Kitty, Kitty.”
The Los Angeles based singer-songwriter has been on personal lockdown in her home, like many others right now, and as the popular show made its way onto her TV screen an inspiration was born.
I think it was the perfect storm of being in my house alone for three weeks and the utter batshit craziness of “Tiger King” that somehow found me reimagining Joe Exotic songs in my underwear at 2 pm on a Tuesday. There’s a couple more in the works so stay tuned.”
In classic Alex Winston style, one that’s long been admired from folks at Pitchfork, Billboard, Noisey and more, she creates a world all her own, one that’s likely to get her the new title ‘Tiger Queen.’
This new song was developed in quarantine and Winston has pledged that “proceeds from this song will be donated to MusiCares (https://www.grammy.com/musicares) and their Covid-19 relief fund for artists.”
