CBS All Access Reveals Premiere Date For “The Stand”

CBS All Access announced today that director Josh Boone‘s (The New Mutants) 9-episode limited series adaptation of Stephen King‘s “The Stand” is set to premiere this December.

 

The new series bring’s King’s tale of a world decimated by a plague and stuck in the middle of a battle between good and evil.  The fate of mankind hangs in the balance and rests on the shoulders of Mother Abigail, who is 108 years old, and a handful of survivors who must face off against Randall Flagg, humanity’s worst nightmare.

 

 

Alexander Skarsgård stars as Randall Flagg with Whoopi Goldberg playing the role of Mother Abagail. The cast also includes Jovan Adepo, Owen Teague, Greg Kinnear, Brad William Henke, Nat Wolff, Daniel Sunjata, Heather Graham, James Marsden, Odessa Young, Amber Heard, Eion Bailey, Katherine McNamara, Hamish Linklater, and Henry Zaga, along with rocker/actor Marilyn Manson. Benjamin CavellandTaylor Elmore(“Justified”) serve as showrunners for “The Stand.”

 

Stephen King penned a new ending of the story just for the series which premieres on December 17, 2020.
