Naughty Dog’s extremely popular zombie game “The Last of Us” is getting a new series adaptation for HBO. The lead character of Ellie has now been cast with “Game of Thrones” actress Bella Ramsey to play the teenager who may be the key to the cure for the horrible pandemic. Ramsey will star opposite her fellow “Game of Thrones” alum Pedro Pascal who will play Joel.

The Last of Us” is “set twenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse across the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.”

Neil Druckmann, the game’s creator and writer is on board to co-write and produce along with Craig Mazin (Chernobyl). Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, Naughty Dog, and Word Games, will also produce the series whose premiere episode will be directed by Kantemir Balagov (Beanpole).

If you are a “Game of Thrones” fan you will recognize Ramsey as the no-nonsense and brave young Lyanna Mormont who starred in the sixth, seventh, and eighth seasons of the hit series. Pascal starred as Oberyn Martell of House Martell, recognized for his amazing fighting ability and his knowledge of poisons.
