Few series have such a huge, loyal fan base as “Supernatural.” When it ended earlier this year after its 15th season, fans were left heartbroken. If you are one of them, you’ll be happy to hear that The CW is taking us back into that world for the new series “The Winchesters”
Before there was Sam and Dean, there was John and Mary. The series will be told from the perspective of Dean (Jensen Ackles), who narrates the show. “The Winchesters” will tell not only the love story of John and Mary but also how they saved the world.
Ackles recently had this to say to Deadline: “After Supernatural wrapped its 15th season, we knew it wasn’t over. because like we say in the show, ‘nothing ever really ends, does it?’ When Danneel and I formed Chaos Machine Productions, we knew the first story we wanted to tell was the story of John and Mary Winchester, or rather the Supernatural origin story. I always felt like my character, Dean, would have wanted to know more about his parents’ relationship and how it came to be. So I love the thought of having him take us on this journey.”
In “Supernatural,” John Winchester is played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan with Matt Cohen playing young John. Susanne Smith stars as Mary with Amy Jaclyn Gumenick playing the young Mary. The cast is yet to be announced for the prequel spin-off, but we sincerely hope we will see the return of some classic characters.
Supernatural co-executive producer Robbie Thompson will pen the project from Ackles’ Chaos Machine Productions and Warner Bros. Television.
If you’re going through Dean withdraws, you can see Ackles kick ass on the upcoming season of “The Boys”.
