Fans of “Dexter” couldn’t have been more excited to learn that the killer of killers would be returning for a revival. As the premiere grows closer more cast members are being announced.

Back in season 4, we were introduced to “The Trinity Killer” played by John Lithgow. While his character was killed that season, news has come that Lithgow is returning for the revival. You may be wondering how this is possible. Killers have often returned in the series in the form of flashbacks and in Dexter’s mind. We are assuming that’s what will happen, but the show has had major twists before so we can’t be certain. Lithgow received an Emmy for his portrayal of “The Trinity Killer” (aka Arthur Mitchell), the character who entered the series as a mentor and became one of Dexter Morgan’s biggest adversaries.

Michael C. Hall is back as Dexter and is joined by Julia Jones (“The Mandalorian”), Alano Miller (Sylvie’s Love), Jack Alcott (“The Good Lord Bird”), and Johnny Sequoyah (Believe), with Clancy Brown (Pet Sematary Two, Shawshank Redemption) playing the main villain, Kurt Caldwell.

Marcos Siega will be directing six of the ten episodes, as well as executive produce along with Hall. John Goldwyn will also executive produce with Sara Colleton, Bill Carraro, and also Scott Reynolds. Clyde Phillips, the showrunner on the first four seasons, is returning as well.

The new season (9) of “Dexter” will premiere sometime this Fall on Showtime.
