The cast of the “Dexter” revival continues to expand. Deadline is reporting that Jennifer Carpenter (The Exorcism of Emily Rose), who played Dexter’s sister, Detective Debra Morgan, in the original series, will be returning even though her character died in the season eight finale. We are assuming that she will return in flashbacks.

Michael C. Hall is back as Dexter and is joined by previously announced cast members Julia Jones (“The Mandalorian”), John Lithgow (“Dexter”), Alano Miller (Sylvie’s Love), Jack Alcott (“The Good Lord Bird”), and Johnny Sequoyah (Believe), with Clancy Brown (Pet Sematary Two, Shawshank Redemption) playing the main villain, Kurt Caldwell.

The series is set ten years after Dexter faked his death and disappeared during Hurricane Laura. Dexter has started a new life and is living under the name Jim Lindsay and he’ll soon face a new villain.

Marcos Siega will be directing six of the ten episodes, as well as executive produce along with Hall. John Goldwyn will also executive produce with Sara Colleton, Bill Carraro, and also Scott Reynolds. Clyde Phillips, the showrunner on the first four seasons, is returning as well.

The new season (9) of “Dexter” will premiere sometime this Fall on Showtime.
