Following last week’s announcement about the upcoming Shudder special Elvira’s 40th Anniversary, Very Scary, Very Special Special, and today’s release of Cassandra Peterson’s (Elvira) new book “Yours Cruelly, Elvira,” the “Mistress of the Dark” has officially come out of the coffin, announcing that she has been in a relationship for the past nineteen years with her partner, Teresa “T” Wierson. That’s right, the famous horror host is LBGTQ+.

The two met at the Hollywood Gold’s Gym where Peterson was visiting with her boyfriend at the time. Peterson and “T” met in the ladies’ room that day and a friendship was born. After Peterson ended her marriage to musician turned manager Mark Pierson, the friendship with “T” evolved and after a while, the two realized they were in love. Since that time “T” Wierson has been working as Peterson’s assistant and the two maintained a private relationship, that is until the truth was revealed in her book earlier today. Her reason for keeping the relationship under wraps is that she was concerned about her image and how fans might see her.

So I worried that if I announced I was no longer living the ‘straight life,’ my fans would feel lied to, call me a hypocrite, and abandon me,” Entertainment Weekly qutes.

Peterson describes her sexuality as fluid and has stated she is still attracted to men as well as women, which the bi community is celebrating, after all, it is World Bi Week. She at one time entertained as a drag queen and has long been an LBGTQ+ ally, even serving as a judge on “RuPaul’s Drag Race”.
