Jared Leto is not wasting any time following his role in this year’s Morbius. He has now boarded the upcoming ghost ship movie Adrift, which we reported earlier this year. Now, it’s been announced that the movie has entered production.
In the movie, based on the novel by Kôji Suzuki, a fishing boat discovers an abandoned yacht with a strange distress call. A deckhand agrees to take lone control of it while it’s towed into port, but soon he discovers why it is called it a “Ghost Ship.”
Adrift is directed and co-written by Darren Aronofsky, who brought you Mother! and Black Swan. Luke Dawson (The Lazarus Effect, Shutter) co-wrote the script. Jason Blum is producing.
After several delays, Marvel’s Morbius is finally set to open in theaters on January 28, 2022. Leto stars as Michael Morbius, a scientist who, while trying to find a cure for a rare blood disease, accidentally transforms himself into a living vampire. Though disgusted by his own bloodlust, he chooses to prey upon criminals he deems unworthy of life.
