New Horror Series “Archive 81” From James Wan Is Coming To Netflix

A new horror series is heading to Netflix this January. Titled “Archive 81,” the series will feature eight, one-hour-long episodes and is based on the podcast of the same name.

 

Mamoudou Athie (Black Box), Dina Shihabi (‘Altered Carbon’), Martin Donovan (Tenet), Matt McGorry (How to Get Away with Murder), Evan Jonigkeit (The Empty Man), Julia Chan (‘Katy Keene’), and Ariana Neal (Hidden Figures) star.

 

The series centers on archivist Dan Turner (Athie), who takes a job restoring a collection of damaged videotapes from 1994. Reconstructing the work of a documentary filmmaker named Melody Pendras (Shihabi) and is drawn into her investigation of a dangerous cult at the Visser apartment building. As the season unfolds across these two timelines, Dan slowly finds himself obsessed with uncovering what happened to Melody. When the two characters form a mysterious connection, Dan becomes convinced he can save her from the terrifying end she met 25 years ago.

 

Rebecca Sonnenshine (“The Boys”) is serving as showrunner and executive producer. James Wan and Michael Clear of Atomic Monster (The Conjuring Universe), Rebecca Thomas (“Stranger Things”), Antoine Douaihy (Panic), and Paul Harris Boardman (Deliver Us from Evil) also executive produce.
