Walton Goggins, best known for the portrayal of unhinged characters like Boyd Crowder on “Justified” and the evangelist Baby Billy on “The Righteous Gemstones” (pictured) will lead the cast of Prime Video’s upcoming  “Fallout” series adaptation from “Westworld” co-creator Jonathan Nolan who will be directing the pilot episode.

The “Fallout” franchise of games is set in a post-apocalyptic reality where an all-out nuclear event takes place in 2077. To survive, the remainder of humanity hides in underground fallout shelters, emerging at different points in history after the final battle to try and rebuild civilization.

Variety reports that Goggins will play a lead role, a character based on the ghouls in the games, but there’s no word about which ghoul he will be playing of if it is one completely new to the franchise. The ghouls in “Fallout” are people who have suffered from exposure to high levels of radiation and have mutated as a result, leaving them looking nasty.

The first “Fallout” game was released back in 1997, with three sequels that followed in 1998, 2008, and 2010, created by Interplay Entertainment.
