Addams Family alum Christina Ricci, hot off the heels her role in “Yellowjackets,” is returning for the upcoming Netflix spin-off series “Wednesday,” the Tim Burton created series that will star Jenny Ortega as Wednesday, the character that launched Ricci’s career. Ricci will play a new, still unnamed character that is said to play a big role in the new series.
As for the rest of the cast, Luis Guzmán and Catherine Zeta-Jones star as Gomez and Morticia Addams. “Game of Thrones” actress Gwendoline Christie, plays the role of “Larissa Weems,” the principal of Nevermore Academy, The cast also includes Joy Sunday, Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, Naomi J. Ogawa, Percy Hynes White, Jamie McShane, Thora Birch, and Riki Lindhome.
“Wednesday” is described as “a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships.”
Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (“Smallville”) are writing and serving as showrunners. Tim Burton is directing.
Ricci is also starring in the upcoming horror film Monstrous. In the film, from All Cheerleaders Must Die director Chris Siverston. “Laura (Christina Ricci), traumatized by an abusive relationship, finally runs away from her former husband with her seven-year-old son Cody.
