Ellen Burstyn, who is reprising her role as Chris MacNeil, Regan’s mother, in the iconic horror film The Exorcist, recently admitted that she has now filmed her scenes in the upcoming new take on the classic from director David Gordon Green, the man behind the new Halloween trilogy.

Burstyn revealed the news a little while ago during an interview with Daily Blast Live (watch below). However, it has just come to light. She also shared that, unlike in the original, nothing strange or paranormal happened on the new movie set.

Information about the new movie remains scarce at this point. As for the cast, right now, the only announced actors, besides Burstyn, include Leslie Odom Jr. (Hamilton), Nick Benas (“Stranger Things” season 4), and Nigel Barto (“P-Valley”).

The Exorcist is set to premiere on October 13, 2023. You know it will be a big deal when Blumhouse, Morgan Creek, Peacock, and Universal are all involved and its budget is listed at a whopping $400 Million. But the big question is can it stand up to the 1973 original that is still referred to as “the best horror movie of all time?” I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
