Fede Alvarez, behind films like 2013’s Evil Dead and Don’t Breathe, is set to direct a new installment of the Alien franchise. The film continues to announce new cast members, the most recent being Rosaline actress Isabela Merced, THR reports.
Cailee Spaeny (The Craft: Legacy, Pacific Rim: Uprising) leads the cast, including David Jonsson, Spike Fearn, Archie Renaux, and Aileen Wu.
Described as “an original standalone feature,” the film was written by Alvarez and Rodo Sayagues (Evil Dead).
The new installment of the franchise is set to begin filming later this month and will center on a group of young people, according to THR. The plot is still being kept quiet.
Ridley Scott, who directed the original 1979 classic, will produce under his Scott Free banner along with 20th Century Fox.
