Back in 2018, the Netflix Original Bird Box was a smash hit. Now the streaming giant is expanding on the story with a new Spanish spin-off, Bird Box Barcelona, whose trailer has now arrived.

Set in “post-apocalyptic Spain, Sebastián and Anna must hide their eyes from daylight to avoid the powerful entity that, when looked at with the naked eye, makes people k–l themselves. When the pair joins a group of blindfolded strangers, they’re warned of an imminent threat that further jeopardizes their safety.”

The upcoming film is directed by David Pastor and Alex Pastor, who co-wrote the film with Bird Box writer Josh Malerman. Bird Box Bercilona is from the producers of Bird Box.

The cast includes Georgina Campbell, Mario Casas, Diego Calva, Michelle Jenner, Leonardo Sbaraglia, and Lola Dueñas.

Bird Box Barcelona will debut on Netflix on July 14, 2023.
