Season 3 of Netflix’s hit series “The Witcher” is finally headed your way, premiering this June.
Unfortunately, Henry Cavill stars as Geralt for his last season, with Liam Hemsworth stepping into the role in season four. Cavill is joined by returning stars Anya Chalotra as Yennefer and Freya Allen as Ciri.
The official plot goes like this: “As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it,”
“Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where they hope to uncover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery.”
According to the series creator Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, Geralt’s tough guy persona will finally begin to crack as he comes to terms with his emotions.
“He can’t pretend that he doesn’t feel. He can’t pretend that he’s impenetrable,” Hissrich tells Tudum. “Because, despite the ups and downs of last season and the trust that has to be rebuilt, he’s realized that Yennefer and Ciri are his destiny, his family and the loves of his life. This is the foundation of his journey for the rest of his life — and the rest of this show.”
Season three of “The Witcher,” based on the second installment of Andrzej Sapkowski’s book series, Time of Contempt, will air in two parts, with the first five episodes premiering on June 29, 2023, with the second half debuting on July 27th.
