Written by Daniel S. Liuzzi

As a writer, I’m constantly writing things down in notebooks, but I also feel that I need a pen that fits what I do and looks great, and feels comfortable, that’s where Bastion comes in! Bastion makes bolt-action pens that really stand out in the world of writing implements, and I was honored to get the chance to check out possibly the most badass-looking pen I’ve ever seen, The Shipwreck Force Patina Copper Pen. Bastion was also kind enough to offer a discount code to YOU the reader, just keep on reading to learn more! I would also like to give a big thank you to Mike and the other awesome folks over at Bastion for helping make this review possible!

The pen looks like it was pulled from a doomed ship that met an unfortunate sunken end under mysterious or malevolent circumstances, the lone survivor. Regardless of its appearance, the pen is quite comfortable to hold. The first thing I noticed about the pen was how hefty it is! The weight is actually quite nice and comfortable as I write with it, it will take some getting used to. I really like how seamless the pen is, at first I could not tell if the pen came apart but I was pleasantly surprised that the end comes off like most pens but with how it’s designed you can’t see the seam which I’m sure depending on what other pens you find on Bastion, they look like a solid piece of metal.

The bolt-action mechanism on the pen, if you haven’t figured it out yet, is how you engage and disengage the pen. I like how this action is done fluidly without really having to change your grip as you hold the pen itself. There’s a clip on the pen, while many pens have flimsy ones, this pen will be going nowhere with how strong and sturdy this clip is! When it comes to writing, it’s smooth, just the way you want it to be when you write making it a comfortable experience.

The Shipwreck pen is perfect for the nautical person or writer in your life, to help you get into character at your next game session, to jot down ideas or your thoughts in your journal, or to treat yourself. With a variety of pens to choose from, you might be wondering if the price of the pens is worth it, I’ll say yes it is, but if you’re still not sure, how about getting 20% off your order? As mentioned at the start, Bastion has set up a discount code for our readers, use code HF20 at checkout to save 20% on your order.
