This year Netflix is not adding a ton of films as part of their annual October celebration “Netflix and Chills.” Instead they are going big with premieres, releasing new series and movies. Here are some that you should add to your “must see” list.

The Fall of the House of Usher

October 12, 2023

Netflix has teamed up once again with “Haunting of Hill House” director Mike Flanagan for this original series based on the tale by Edgar Allen Poe. The series is a dark and twisted tale of a ruthless, corrupt family and that the time has come for the consequences of their actions to be felt through pain and death.

The Conference

October 13, 2023

Netflix will unleash their Swedish horror-comedy, The Conference, based on the book of the same name by Mats Strandberg,

Part slasher, part comedy. The Conference is set at a teambuilding conference attended by a group of employees. The getaway quickly spirals into a nightmare when accusations of corruption begin to circulate and plague the work environment. All the while, a mysterious figure begins stalking and murdering the participants, one by one.

Bodies

October 19, 2023

The series unfolds across four different timelines where the same murder victim is discovered on the same street in Whitechapel. The mystery of how that is possible unfolds as police discover they are working the case with other detectives over time and space, and that a mysterious political leader is somehow involved.

Sister Death

October 27, 2023

In 2017, Netflix released Veronica, a Spanish horror film directed by Paco Plaza that still tops “Best Of” lists as one of the service’s most scary films. Plaza is taking us back into that dark supernatural world with a prequel, Sister Death (aka Hermana Muerte), whose Halloween premiere date has just been announced.

Sister Death, set “In post-war Spain, sees Narcissa (Aria Bedmar), a young novice with supernatural powers, arrives at a former convent, now a school for girls, to become a teacher. As the days go by, the strange events and increasingly disturbing situations that torment her will eventually lead her to unravel the terrible skein of secrets that surround the convent and haunt its inhabitants.”
