Hold onto your Peacemakers, Earpers! The beloved gun-slinging horror show “Wynonna Earp is officially back from the dead! It’s getting a brand new 90-minute scripted special coming to Tubi in late 2024.

The hit series, which features four seasons, centers on Wynonna Earp, a descendent of the legendary real-life gunslinger Wyatt Earp. Wynonna, along with her sister, Doc Holliday, and a few friends, fight demons and creatures to protect their town and their family.

A Reunion for the Ages:

Creator Emily Andras, known for her witty writing and dedication to fan service, confirmed the news to Vanity Fair. The main stars will be reprising their roles. We will see the return of Melanie Scrofano as the titular gunslinger, Wynonna. Dom Provost-Chalkley is back as her ever-optimistic sister, Waverly. Joining them are fan favorites Tim Rozon as the charmingly undead Doc Holliday and Katherine Barrell as the stoic-yet-loving Sheriff Nicole Haught.

Picking Up the Pieces:

Titled Wynonna Earp: Vengeance, the special will jump forward a few years after the cliffhanger ending of season 4. We’ll catch up with Doc and Wynonna on their adventures while Waverly and Nicole hold down the fort back in Purgatory.

Andras teases “a challenge they’ve never faced before” that throws them together again, leading to “favorite character moments” laced with themes of growth and acceptance.

From Cancellation to Cult Classic:

Wynonna Earp,” inspired by the comic book series of the same name, captivated audiences with its unique blend of action, humor, and LGBTQ+ representation. It ran from 2016 to 2021 on Syfy, earning a devoted fanbase known as “Earpers.” Despite its passionate following, the show didn’t escape the axe, leaving fans heartbroken.

The Power of the Earpers:

Known for their fierce loyalty and creative campaigning, fans weren’t about to let their show fade away. After a successful #SaveWynonna campaign in 2019 and a celebratory Times Square gathering in 2020, their collective voice has finally been heard.

More to Come?

While the special is a cause for celebration, Andras’s final words offer a tantalizing glimpse into the future. Her hope to “continue to share their inspiring tales” suggests that this might not be the last we see of Wynonna and her posse. So, keep your ears peeled and your Peacemakers loaded – the fight for Purgatory may not be over just yet!
