Anticipation hangs heavy in the air as The First Omen, the chilling prequel to the 1976 classic, unleashes its horrors on audiences today. I had the privilege of sitting down with the film’s director, Arkasha Stevenson, and writer, Tim Smith, to delve into this unholy horror film that reunited the two after making “Brand New Cherry Flavor.”
An Omen Awaits
The First Omen delves into the terrifying origins of the Antichrist. We follow a young American woman, played by Nell Tiger Free. She arrives in Rome to dedicate herself to the church. However, her faith is shaken to its core when she encounters a shadowy conspiracy aiming to usher in the birth of ultimate evil.
A Conversation with the Creators
Both Smith and Stevenson radiated excitement about the film’s release, eager to see audience reactions to their terrifying vision. They also discussed the challenges faced during production, hinting at strange occurrences that might spark theories of supernatural intervention. Could the making of the film itself have been touched by the darkness it portrays?
Bringing Evil to Life
The First Omen boasts a stellar cast to bring its chilling narrative to life. Nell Tiger Free takes center stage, joined by Tawfeek Barhom, Sonia Braga, the imposing Ralph Ineson (The Witch), and the captivating Bill Nighy (“Pirates of the Caribbean”).
The First Omen, guaranteed to leave you with chills, opens in theaters nationwide on April 5th, 2024. Tickets are available now from Fandango. You can also enter to win tickets here.
