Our childhood is under attack once again with a new, twisted take on a classic character, Steamboat Willie. The team behind the genre hits Terrifier 2 and The Mean One have joined forces with Iconic Events Releasing to bring Screamboat to life.

Set a Course for Terror

The film is based on the iconic 1920s Disney character Steamboat Willie, who went on to become Mickey Mouse. In the movie, a group’s relaxing ferry ride turns into a bloody nightmare. A mischievous mouse with a taste for tourists starts stalking them. Can the passengers overcome their differences and stop this killer creature before it turns their commute into a graveyard?

“Iconic Events couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of this fun and terrifying ride,” says Steven Menkin, president of Iconic Events. “We’re dedicated to giving horror filmmakers like Steven LaMorte a platform to showcase their work on the big screen. Screamboat promises to be a unique experience that will unite horror fans.”

From Steamboat Willie to Slashing Spree

LaMorte’s horror parody will begin production this spring.

“I’m thrilled to partner with Iconic Events Releasing,” says director LaMorte. “We have an incredible team, both in front of and behind the camera, working to bring this unhinged horror comedy to life on the big screen. Audiences are going to love our mischievous, murderous mouse!”

A Blend of Practical and Cutting-edge Effects

Screamboat will showcase its monstrous mayhem through a blend of practical creature effects, miniatures, and cutting-edge virtual production techniques.

Talented artists are lining up to breathe life into LaMorte’s nightmarish vision. Quantum Creation FX (responsible for The Last Voyage of the Demeter and The Book of Boba Fett) will create the creature based on concept art by Christian Cordella (Avatar: The Way of Water, Spider-Man: No Way Home). The film’s killer mouse will be a horrifying mix of classic practical puppets and traditional prosthetic makeup.

A Hilariously Horrific Homage

Produced by the team behind The Mean One (Amy Schumacher, Martine Melloul, and Steven LaMorte) alongside horror heavyweights Steven Della Salla and Michael Leavy (Terrifier 2, Terrifier 3), Screamboat promises a darkly comedic twist on a beloved Disney icon. Production begins this spring, casting a long shadow over the bright lights of New York City.
