Get ready for a shocking twist on the classic tale The Bride of Frankenstein! Maggie Gyllenhaal’s highly anticipated reimagining, The Bride! has added a new star to the lineup. THR reports that Jake Gyllenhaal, fresh off his role in Road House, has joined the cast to play an undisclosed role.

The Bride! Breathes new life into the classic horror tale. Scheduled for release in 2025, the film centers on Frankenstein’s Monster (Christian Bale) seeking a companion in 1930s Chicago. He enlists the help of Dr. Euphronius, and together they revive a murdered woman, creating the Bride (Jessie Buckley). However, things take an unexpected turn, sparking a romance, unwanted attention from the authorities, and a social movement unlike any other.

The Bride! Boasts an impressive ensemble cast alongside Gyllenhaal. Christian Bale portrays the iconic monster, while Jessie Buckley plays the Bride. The film also features Penelope Cruz, Peter Sarsgaard, and Annette Bening.

The original 1935 Bride of Frankenstein film explored the consequences of Dr. Frankenstein’s experiments. Maggie Gyllenhaal‘s reimagining promises a fresh perspective. It will focus on the relationship between the monster and his Bride, with a dash of social commentary thrown in for good measure.

The Bride! is set to open in theaters on October 3, 2025.
