Fans of Stephen King rejoice! The highly anticipated film adaptation of his chilling short story, The Monkey, has wrapped production and is set for a 2025 theatrical release.

Directed by Osgood Perkins (also behind the terrifying upcoming film Longlegs), the film stars Emmy-nominated actor Theo James in a dual role as twin brothers Hal and Bill. When they unearth a seemingly harmless childhood toy – their father’s old monkey – a wave of brutal deaths begins to plague them. Determined to break the curse, the brothers must confront the sinister power of the monkey before it claims everything they hold dear.

Joining James are talented actors Tatiana Maslany (“Orphan Black”) and Elijah Wood (“Lord of the Rings”), and a strong supporting cast including Christian Convery, Colin O’Brien, Rohan Campbell, and Sarah Levy. Horror maestro James Wan (The Conjuring, M3GAN, and its spin-off SOULM8TE) serves as producer alongside Michael Clear. Neon will handle U.S. distribution for this chilling adaptation.

Set to open in theaters on February 21, 2025, The Monkey is a must-see. Watch for further updates as “The Monkey” prepares to unleash its terror in theaters next year. In the meantime, you can delve into the original short story, first published in 1980 and later included in King’s collection, “Skeleton Crew.”
