Over the past few months, we’ve been updating you about the new “Dexter” prequel series, “Original Sin.” But you may be wondering what happened to the second season of the “Dexter” sequel series, “Dexter: New Blood?” Will it ever happen? The answer is yes! The second season has just been confirmed.
“Dexter: New Blood,” which premiered in 2021, finds Dexter living a new life under a new name, but no matter how hard you try, your past will catch up to you, and that’s precisely what happened when Dexter’s son, Harrison (Jack Alcott), finally hunts him down. The finale shocked fans, but they still want more. And they are about to get it.
The second season, airing on Paramount+ will reportedly focus on Harrison Morgan following his escape to New York after season one’s finale. The story will explore Harrison’s struggle with his violent urges, mirroring his father’s dark passenger.
In an interview with Deadline, showrunner Clyde Phillips discussed Harrison’s complex character and his potential for darkness. “Harrison has the seeds of the dark passenger within him,” Phillips stated. “He’s capable, as evidenced by his takedown of Dexter. He feels compelled to kill.”
Phillips also highlights a key difference between Harrison and Dexter. “Harrison brings a fresh perspective to vigilantism,” Phillips explained. “He has a youthful, optimistic outlook, believing he and his father are like Batman and Robin, saving lives by eliminating bad guys. This contrasts with Dexter’s purely code-driven approach.”
Production on “Dexter: New Blood” season two will begin in New York City this January and continue until June 2nd. This means we won’t likely see it premiere until late in 2025 or early 2026. I know it’s a long time to wait, but the good news is that you will have “Dexter: Original Sin” to watch in the meantime.
The cast for “Dexter: Original Sin” features a horde of talented actors, including Christian Slater, Patrick Gisnon, Patric Dempsy, and Sarah Machelle Gellar, among others.
