Fans have been begging for a sequel to the 2005 horror film Constantine for decades. It appears that our prayers have finally been answered. We confirmed last year that a sequel was still in the works. Now, according to IMDb, Constantine 2 has entered production.
Keanu Reeves will once again slip into the trench coat of John Constantine, the sardonic exorcist and master of the occult. But he’s not the only one reportedly returning. Peter Stormare, who gave one hell of a performance as Lucifer, will also be back. But the stars aren’t the only ones who are returning. Francis Lawerence will be back in the director’s chair for the movie written by Akiva Goldsman, based on the comic by Jamie Delano and John Ridgeway. There is no word yet on whether Rachel Weisz will reprise her role.
The original introduced audiences to John, a haunted man who manipulates demons and bargains with dark forces. Aiding a policewoman in a supernatural case, Constantine must confront his own mortality while protecting humanity from a demonic incursion.
Plot details for the sequel remain shrouded in mystery, but with this powerhouse team assembled, expectations are high for a return to the dark and thrilling world of John Constantine. We’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, you can stream Constantine now on Apple TV, AMC, and Prime Video. Here’s a look back at the trailer.
