Director Christopher Bickel‘s latest horror opus, Pater Noster and the Mission of Light will unleash its twisted vision upon the world this fall. The new trailer has been released ahead of its premiere, giving you a glimpse at a psychedelic, brutal nightmare.
Known for films like The Theta Girl and Bad Girls, Bickel is no stranger to crafting unsettling cinematic experiences. With Pater Noster, he delves into the depths of madness, inviting viewers on a journey that will haunt their dreams.
The film follows Max, an unsuspecting record store clerk. After discovering a rare record, she is drawn into the enigmatic world of a 1970s hippie commune. What begins as a curious exploration takes a terrifying turn. Max and her friends become entangled in a web of horror and depravity.
Crafted on a shoestring budget, the film boasts impressive practical effects. Its haunting atmosphere will leave a lasting impression. The director’s punk rock ethos is evident in every frame. He defies conventional filmmaking norms to create a unique and disturbing cinematic experience.
Director Christopher Bickel had this to say about the film, “We make underground films with very little money for the love of the art. This is literally my back yard we’re shooting in. Everything we do is like the Little Rascals putting on a show for the neighborhood kids. That’s not to say that we don’t take great pains to make our products the best possible quality with the resources we have. Everything I know about filmmaking, I learned from punk rock. The movies we make are punk rock demo tapes. We operate outside of Hollywood focus groups and traditional distribution routes.”
An accompanying album comes with the Blu-ray. It features original music created to further immerse audiences in the film’s psychedelic world. The soundtrack features contributions from Tim Cappello, the iconic singer and saxophonist from The Lost Boy, who also stars in the movie. The album also features remixes by Andrew Liles of Nurse With Wound.
We’ll let you know when the premiere date for Pater Noster and the Mission of Light is announced. In the meantime, check out the trailer, but be warned, it’s NSFW.
